RCMP say the Inuulisautinut Niuvirvik grocery store in Iqaluit on Astro Hill, connected to the Frobisher Inn and eight-storey complex, was broken into on March 15 and March 22, between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Police aren’t sure if there’s more than one person involved in the break-ins, and are appealing to the public for help in identifying the suspect.

There were 36 break and enters in Iqaluit from Dec. 1 2025 to Jan. 23 2026, according to Nunavut RCMP.

That’s more than double the number of break-ins from the same time last year, when there were 17 of those property crimes in the territorial capital from December 2024 to January 2025.

Nunavut RCMP Chief Supt. Kent Pike had previously Nunavut News that the break-ins were being committed by one to three people.
