Europe's biggest discounter had delayed their U.S. debut.
The German discount supermarket chain announced they will not be entering the the U.S. market until 2018 — they originally planned to launch in 2015.
Reuters reported the delay was the result of the surprise departure of two top executives.
Lidl has over 9,000 stores in 26 European countries. They were expected to open 100 stores in the U.S. next year.
