Loblaw Companies is hosting a special in-store cheddar cheese sampling event at its stores across Canada.

Taking place Saturday (July 11), the event celebrates Canadian farms and food manufacturers.

Products will vary by location and may include cheeses from Bothwell Cheese, Balderson Cheese, Agropur and Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL)—all made with milk from Canadian dairy farms.

Participating banners include Real Canadian Superstore, Your Independent Grocer Atlantic, Real Atlantic Superstore, Loblaws, Zehrs, Fortinos, Provigo and Dominion Stores.

The initiative is inspired by last year’s Guiness Book of World Records parmesan cutting event where Loblaw Companies customers will have the opportunity to sample aged cheddar cheese made with 100% Canadian milk from regional dairy partners across the country.

"We know Canadians want great-tasting, high-quality food they can trust, and we're proud to make that  easy to find in our stores every day," said Joe Difalco, vice-president, super market deli, HMR and bakery, Loblaw Companies Ltd., in a press release. "By partnering with Canadian dairy farmers and  cheesemakers from coast-to-coast, we're able to offer exceptional cheddar made with 100% Canadian  milk while supporting local food production and delivering the quality and value our customers expect."

As part of the initiative, Loblaw will be donating at least 500 pounds of cheese to local food banks and charities.
