A look at the private-label brands owned by Boots and Shoppers Drug Mart
All eyes are on the Weston family’s Boots acquisition.
After days of speculation, it was announced earlier this month that the family behind Loblaw Companies—which owns Shoppers Drug Mart—would be adding the major U.K. retailer to its portfolio.
The deal includes Boots’ retail operations in the U.K., Ireland and Thailand, its franchised operations, optical division and No7 Beauty Co. (No7 was originally created and launched by Boots in 1935. Walgreens Boots Alliance spun the brand out into a separate subsidiary in 2021. Boots is the exclusive home of Nov7.)
In an interview with Canadian Grocer following the announcement, Amar Singh, senior director of Kantar Consulting, said: “I think it’s a learning opportunity for Shoppers Drug Mart to inform its private-label innovation more than anything else. That’s one of the clearest wins.”
Read on to learn more about Boots’ buzziest brands—and jog your memory about Shoppers’ portfolio.
