12/13/2010

Supply chain standards organization GS1 Canada has announced two key appointments to its board of governors, both of which involve food industry veterans.

Andy Giancamilli, CEO of Katz Group Canada (pictured above, right), has been at the helm of Katz Group Canada Rexall, a Katz Group subsidiary with more than 1,700 pharmacies across Canada, since 2003. For more than 30 years, Giancamilli has held executive leadership roles in the retail industry at companies including Canadian Tire, Kmart and Perry Drug Stores.

Dave Lemmon, managing director for Canada at Smucker’s Foods of Canada, has been with the company for 16 years. He's held a variety of sales and marketing positions there. Lemmon is also a board member of Food and Consumer Products of Canada.

Commenting on the addition of these new members of GS1 Canada's board, the group's president and CEO, N. Arthur Smith, said the board will "chart the future strategic and financial direction of GS1 Canada to ultimately build  smarter, more efficient supply chains across various sectors." A member of GS1, GS1 Canada is a not-for-profit organization with more than 10,000 members.
