Maple Leaf Foods has sung the praises of its Ready Crisp bacon, but this is the first time employees have danced it.
Maple Leaf Foods has set two new world records – one for the largest “bacon dance” and a second for the largest BLT sandwich.
Led by CEO Michael McCain, 161 employees came together to dance and “sizzle like bacon” with the promise they would receive a BLT sandwich once the record was set.

The BLT was made by Bob Villeneuve, director of culinary innovation with Maple Leaf, at the company’s ThinkFOOD Centre – a centre dedicated to innovation and growth. The BLT in question was registered at more than 227 feet long, using 2,000 slices of Ready Crisp bacon.
“Setting the world records was a fun way to demonstrate the consumer insight that bacon can be a powerful motivator,” said Adam Grogan, senior vice-president of marketing and innovation.
The world records were set as part of the company’s “Change Your Life with Bacon” marketing campaign, which launched last year.
The initial 73-second YouTube ads for Ready Crisp bacon garnered close to two million views. Following the success of the campaign Maple Leaf turned it into a 30-second ad, which resulted in a 14% increase in year-to-year sales.
