Loblaw Companies-owned discount banner Maxi has opened a new store in Mont-Laurier, Que.

The Albiny-Paquette Boulevard location features a selection of local products like Quebec cheeses, organic and natural products and other grocery essentials.

The new store comes from a multi-million-dollar investment in the region. It was designed to offer a “simplified and user-friendly shopping experience,” states a press release.

“This inauguration reflects our ongoing commitment to making quality products at affordable prices accessible to a growing number of Quebecers and the many families who choose Maxi for their groceries. We know that freshness, quality and variety are important, and we are proud to offer even more to the communities we serve who are looking for exceptional value," says Patrick Blanchette, vice-president, Maxi, in the release.

A new Pharmaprix store has also opened at the Albiny-Paquette Boulevard site. The pharmacy will offer access to primary healthcare service as well as a selection of beauty products, cosmetics and perfumes.

To commemorate the openings, Maxi and Pharmaprix are donating a total of $5,000 to Passe-R-Elle Haute-Laurentides, an emergency shelter for women victims of domestic violence.
