Mercatus Technologies merges with Stor.ai to create combined e-commerce solution for retailers

Company will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Relationshop Inc.

Toronto-based Mercatus Technologies has merged with Stor.ai., a Tel Aviv-based e-commerce solution for independent grocers.

The combined company, Mercatus, will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Relationshop Inc., a provider of digital engagement solutions for supermarkets and other retail chains. 

Relationshop acquired Stor.ai in January 2023.

The combined company promises to “take on Instacart” by offering retailers of all sized in North America, Europe and the Middle East “robust shopper engagement, personalization and loyalty solutions.”

Mercatus’s client base comprises more than 1,800 regional grocery chain stores in the United States and more than 400 independent grocers globally across the U.K., France and Canada. 

Albertsons, United Supermarkets, Big Y Foods, Buehler’s Fresh Foods, Carrefour, East of England COOP and Vallarta Supermarkets are a few notable Mercatus clients.

The roster also features Stater Brothers Markets, Winn Dixie, Weis Markets, Harvey’s Supermarkets, WinCo Foods, Strack & Van Til, and C&S Wholesale’s Piggly Wiggly Midwest, among others. 

With the merger, several Mercatus executives will take on key roles within the expanded organization.
