Mondelez Canada makes $75K donation to Food Banks Canada
Who: Mondelez Canada
What: The company is contributing $75,000 to Food Banks Canada’s After the Bell Program to support children who rely on in-school meal programs to access healthy food this summer.
Mondelez Canada, the company behind such brands as Cadbury, Oreo and Ritz, is a long-standing partner with Food Banks Canada, and provides annual support for the After the Bell program.
"We're passionate supporters of the After the Bell program, and proud to contribute annually because we know one third of food bank clients are children and summer hunger is a real problem for many children and families facing food insecurity, especially this year," said Karla Schlieper, president, Mondelez Canada, in a statement. "Creating a snacking world that is good for people and kind to the planet are some of the core values to the Mondelez mission and working closely with Food Banks Canada is just one of the many ways we aim to live those values."
Packs delivered through the After the Bell program contain foods such as shelf stable milk, hummus, crackers, cereal, oatmeal and sunflower seeds. The packs are sent to the local food bank which uses grant money to supplement them with perishable items such as apples, sugar snap peas, cheese, and yogurt.
