Peninsula Co-op hires VP of retail operations

Peninsula Co-op has appointed Rick Mather as vice president of retail operations.

Mather brings more than 30 years of experience in retail management, having held leadership roles at several Canadian and U.S.-owned retailers.

In his new role at the Vancouver Island-based co-operative, Mather will oversee the grocery and liquor divisions and support new business endeavors.

His career began at Woolco/Walmart Canada, where he held the position of store manager in Whitehorse, Yukon, and later in Victoria, B.C. 

Mather’s roles over the years have included district manager, Supercenter expansion, in B.C. and director (market leader) at Walmart Canada for the West Coast and Yukon regions.

Most recently, he served as the VP of retail operations at a start-up retail company.
