The community of Kleinburg, in Vaughan, Ont., is home to a new Longo’s.

Located at 6530 Major MacKenzie Drive, the much-anticipated store was unveiled on Thursday morning (April 3), closely following the opening of the grocer’s 41st location, also in Vaughan, at the end of February.

At 38,000-sq.-ft., the store has all the bells and whistles Longo’s locations are known for: an expansive array of meal solutions (Pronto Eats, Longo’s Kitchen, a sushi/poke bar as well as heat and eat and meal-kit options), a market-style bakery, butcher, seafood counter, deli and fresh produce. The store also boasts a Starbucks, local beer and wine options and The Loft Cooking School.

"Kleinburg is a special community, and we are beyond excited to become an active part of it," said store manager (and also a 2021 Generation Next winner) Matthew Maiss.

“This store has been a long time coming,” Anthony Longo, the company’s CEO told the crowd gathered at the grand opening. “With this beautiful new store, we’re building on the legacy that my father Tommy and my uncles Joe and Gus started back in 1956, and we’re really happy to have three generations of our family here today,” he said, adding that Longo’s has grown to 42 stores in the Greater Toronto Area, providing careers for more than 6,000 team members while helping the local economies in each location.

Stephen Lecce, Ontario’s minister of energy and mines and MPP for King-Vaughan, also spoke at the grand opening. Acknowledging it’s a difficult time for Canadians as we confront Trump’s tariffs, Lecce said, “But the fact today that there’s a hundred Canadians working at this location with tens of millions of dollars [spent] using Canadian construction companies [with] Canadian workers to deliver this type of economic growth is a beautiful story.”
