Vancouver-based PlantX, a primarily e-commerce platform with two brick-and-mortar locations, has appointed Lorne Rapkin as its CEO, effective immediately. Rapkin replaces Julia Frank, one of PlantX’s first employees, who has shifted roles and is now the plant-based company’s chief operating officer.
The company has also announced that Shariq Khan, previously its director of finance, has now stepped into the role of chief financial officer.
In his new position, Rapkin will be tasked with meeting the demands of PlantX’s strategic growth and the execution of the company’s future development plans.
“As PlantX transitions into a new chapter, we have seen a rising interest and demand among our shareholders to strengthen the company,” said PlantX founder Sean Dollinger, in a release. “As chief financial officer, he has had an integral role in the founding of PlantX and he has been adding exceptional value ever since.”
The company also announced that its second brick-and-mortar store will open in San Diego, California in September. It followings the opening of its first store, its flagship, in Squamish, B.C., earlier this year. The company has also recently expanded its Canadian meal delivery service and has completed its integration as a seller on Walmart Canada Marketplace and Hudson’s Bay Marketplace.
