Possible salmonella contamination prompts recall for Aoun brand tahineh
Recalled product has been sold in Ontario and Quebec, maybe other provinces
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says a recall has been issued for Aoun brand tahineh due to a possible salmonella contamination.
The tahineh distributed by Fattal International North America Inc. was sold in 454-gram packages with a best before date of March 12, 2023.
The recalled product has been sold in Ontario and Quebec and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories.
Consumers are advised to either throw the product out or return it to the place of purchase.
So far there have been no reported illnesses linked to the tahineh.
Symptoms of salmonella poisoning can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea and in rare cases severe arthritis.
