Quebec-based fruit production company Bleu & Bon to open 50,000-sq.-ft. processing facility

Bleu & Bon has opened its new 50,000-sq.-ft. processing factory located in the Hautes-Laurentides, Que. The factory was made possible through a $8 million investment by Fruits Canadawide and Les Entreprises Pitre.

The processing facility will allow the company to centralize the manufacturing of all its products under one roof to offer Quebec berries year-round.

The company announced, in a press release, that its factory includes a bagging line for frozen fruit, a freezing room with a capacity of 2 million pounds of fruit, and two production lines for spreads, capable of producing nearly 1,000 cases per day. Blue & Bon also notes it is the first in Canada to acquire an automatic destemmer, which can process up to 1,000 pounds of strawberries per hour. The company has also invested in a machine to automatically slice strawberries.

Bleu & Bon has also launched its turnkey co-packing service for companies in the industry looking for partners in the production and packaging of their products. The co-packing offer includes dry, refrigerated, and frozen products, as well as bulk, liquid, and semi-liquid products.
