Rustica Foods has received some dough.

The Quebec-based commercial bakery that specializes in ready-to-eat pizzas, frozen pizzas and pre-baked pizza crusts, has received a one-million-dollar refundable contribution from the government.

The investment, part of the Canada Economic Development for Quebec (CED) Regions, gives Rustica Foods the means to purchase digital production equipment to help boost its productivity and competitiveness, according to a press release.

Additionally, the company, which operates primarily in the wholesale, food services and private-label co-production sectors, will be able to build on its growing success and create jobs in the east end of Montréal.

"We are delighted and very grateful for this significant funding from CED," said Rustica Foods CEO Richard Morgante. "This contribution will allow us to improve our production process, pursue our innovation and continue providing our customers with the highest quality products. CED's support is a validation of our vision and our commitment to excellence."

Rustica Foods’ products are sold at Super C, Dollarama, Sobeys, Metro and more.
