Who: Save-On-Foods
What: The grocer gave away more than $120,000 to Winnipeg Blue Bombers fans on Sept. 30 during a game against rival Saskatchewan.
As fans entered the IG Field, 10,000 were handed a $10 Save-On-Foods gift card.
Prior to kickoff, president Darrell Jones announced that Save-on-Foods would award groceries for a year to one fan after every Blue Bombers touchdown.
The Blue Bombers proceeded to score 4 touchdowns, sending 4 attendees home with $5,200 in Save-On-Foods gift cards.
“We wanted the Blue Bombers to score every time they touched the ball,” Jones said in a statement. “We couldn’t be happier to come to Winnipeg and award lucky fans with the Groceries for a Year prize.”
The giveaway was an extension of the Save-On-Foods Million Dollar Touchdown to Win promotion. At every Winnipeg Blue Bombers home game, Save-On-Foods awards a $100 gift card every time the Blue Bombers score a touchdown.
Customers throughout Western Canada are automatically entered into Million Dollar Touchdown to Win each time they shop using their More Rewards card and receive bonus entries for each participating product purchased.
If a kick-off is returned for a touchdown, one customer wins groceries for a year. If two kick-offs are returned for touchdowns in the same game, the prize jumps to $1,000,000.
