Save-On-Foods in Saanich, B.C. is the latest store to offer online grocery shopping to its customers.
This past Saturday, Overwaitea Food Group announced it was bringing the e-commerce service to Saanich. This will be the first store to offer the service in the Victoria area.
The company added that it intends to launch the same service at its Tillicum store by the end of the month.
“Our customers have told us they want grocery shopping to be an easy and convenient part of their lives, and online shopping is just one way we’re innovating to deliver what our customers want,” said Darrell Jones, president of Overwaitea Food Group. “Adding these stores to our e-commerce locations supports our ongoing focus on the Victoria area.”
Overwaitea Food Group first launched Save-On-Foods’ online shopping program last September in Greater Vancouver. The pilot was heavily promoted through bus shelter ads and posters in Save-On stores.
At the time, a Save-On representative told Canadian Grocer the company was testing the demand for online grocery before introducing it to downtown Vancouver.
At this point in time, click-and-collect options are available at eight Save-On-Foods stores, including locations in Abbotsford, North Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, New Westminster, Surrey, Victoria, Langely, and now, Saanich.
To use the service, shoppers need to create an account on the Save-On-Foods site, fill their online cart, and choose whether they’d like to pick up their orders or have it delivered. A team at Save-On-Foods will handpick and pack online orders, and in the case of click-and-collect, will load the groceries into customers’ cars when they’re ready for pickup.
