Consumers might soon be cooking their morning breakfast in their coffee machines.
General Mills Inc. plans to start rolling out Nature Valley Bistro Cups Oatmeal — oatmeal that can be cooked with a counter top Keurig machine.
According to an article from the Wall Street Journal, the company plans to start selling the oatmeal with capsules this week on Amazon.com, and larger packages of Bistro Cups will be available in Sam's Club. Smaller, three-portion-size packages will ideally be made available in traditional grocery stores in the fall.
Each package will contain a packet of oatmeal, another packet of nuts and fruit, and a flavour capsule that is mixed with the oats when hot water filters through the machine.
A representative from General Mills Canada told Canadian Grocer they currently have no plans to bring the oatmeal cups to Canadian retailers.
