Sustainable steak papers from Cascades

Cascades has launched a line of sustainable steak papers designed to enhance the appearance of meat and seafood in display cases—and help the environment.

The FSC-certified 100% recycled paper, under Cascades’ Enviro Kraft line, is specifically made for direct food contact and comes in four vibrant colours.

Cascades Enviro Kraft Steak Paper has been treated to provide a barrier so excess juices don’t permeate through the sheet. It also prevents meat from blackening and can be used to maintain the integrity of meat, poultry and seafood in a processing environment.

“Cascades Enviro Kraft Steak Paper is a unique product that offers superior performance, competitive pricing and very high environmental standards,” said Yves Bienvenue, sales manager for Cascades East Angus, in a release.

According to Cascades, using 2,000 lb. of the steak paper saves the equivalent of 17 trees, 8,921 gallons of water, 1,434 lbs. of waste and 3,973 lbs. of air emissions to other grades of virgin steak paper.
