Toronto grocer The Sweet Potato expands with second store

Toronto’s The Sweet Potato is opening a second location in the city’s Leaside neighbourhood.

The 16,000 square foot store on Bayview Avenue, already under construction, is slated to open in March 2023.

Like its flagship store in The Junction, the new supermarket promises to offer the grocer’s signature mix of local and organic products. 

Founder and CEO Digs Dorfman said the company has more than 35 direct relationships with organic farmers and more than 250 relationships with independent makers, bakers and artisans. 

“That allows us to offer a really unique and popular selection you can’t find anywhere else,” Dorfman said in a statement. “It’s about independent farms, environmentally sustainable agriculture, groundbreaking proteins, and connecting people with the foods they eat in meaningful ways. The future of food belongs to all of us, not just those who can afford it.”
