UGI names new president

The board of directors of United Grocers Incorporated (UGI) announced the appointment of Denis Gendron as president, effective July 11.

Gendron has 36 years in the retail business, having held a variety of roles from supermarket store manager to senior merchandising positions in some of Canada’s top food companies as well as time as a buying group director and representing suppliers to the retail industry.

“UGI is in good hands,” said current UGI president Michael Marinangeli, who will be retiring after 14 years.

“UGI will continue to grow and prosper in the years ahead with Denis at the helm.  He is very well respected in the industry and will do an excellent job representing the group with honesty and integrity.”

Marinangeli will stay on until Sept. 2 to help in Gendron’s transition.
