UNFI Canada appoints Sylvain Chopra as regional sales director

UNFI Canada has announced the promotion of Sylvain Chopra to regional sales director. In the new role, Chopra will oversee Whole Foods and lead UNFI’s independent customer strategy across Eastern Canada. 

Chopra joined UNFI Canada in 2021 as a commercial leader for its Sobeys business. His most recent role was senior sales manager for the company’s national independent business. He also played a role in helping to advance UNFI’s three-year independent strategy, which focuses on delivering significant growth and strengthening customer partnerships across the independent channel. 

“Sylvain’s strong relationships, collaborative leadership style, and consistent delivery of results make him the ideal choice for this role,” said Melinda Zoccoli, vice president, sales & customer experience, in a press release. “We are confident he will continue to elevate our customer partnerships, find new opportunities and drive growth across the region.”

Chopra succeeds Deborah Viti, who has transitioned to lead the company’s mass and national retailers.
