As the second wave of the pandemic hits, Walmart Canada has announced plans to immediately hire 10,000 new workers for a variety of different roles.
The new staff to be hired include e-commerce store associates (people who pick items for online orders and prepare these orders for pickup and delivery), fresh food associates, merchandising associates, customer experience associates (cashiers, greeters and customer service desk associates), warehouse associates and delivery drivers.
"Walmart is all about people. It's our people who make Walmart special and who represent us with our customers in communities across the country," said Horacio Barbeito, president and CEO, Walmart Canada in a news release. "I'm eager to welcome these 10,000 new associates to the team."
The news of these hiring plans follows the announcement of a $3.5-billion investment into all aspects of Walmart Canada's business to generate growth and to improve the online and in-store shopping experience.
