Walmart Canada kicks off fundraising campaign for Red Cross

Walmart Canada announced its stores across the country will be raising funds to support Canadian Red Cross' disaster preparedness and response program.

During the three-week campaign from Aug. 4 to Aug. 31, customers can make a $1 donation to the Canadian Red Cross at the check out, with Walmart matching up to $2,000 at each of their 329 stores.

The annual campaign is expected to raise $2.8 million.

Since 2003, Walmart Canada has raised more than $16 million to support the Canadian Red Cross.

Money raised throughout this campaign supports relief efforts during disasters such as shelter and food.
