Walmart Canada launches 10th annual “Fight Hunger. Spark Change.” campaign

The retailer is contributing $1 million to help food banks meet growing demand

What: The retailer has partnered with Food Banks Canada to kick off the 10th annual “Fight Hunger. Spark Change.” campaign, a national fundraising effort to support food banks across Canada. 

Until March 4, Walmart customers can support their local food banks with funds, food and essential items by donating in-store and online. Every dollar raised stays local, with 100% of the funds directed to the local food bank paired with each Walmart store.

Walmart Canada is also contributing $1 million to help food banks meet growing demand in communities across the country.

"Fight Hunger. Spark Change. is powered by the passion of our associates and the generosity of our customers," said Rob Nicol, vice president, corporate affairs and communications, Walmart Canada, in a press release. "For 10 years, they've come together to support their local food bank through fundraising and donations. As we mark this milestone and 15 years of partnership with Food Banks Canada, we're incredibly proud to keep showing up for communities across Canada."

Walmart Canada joined Food Banks Canada's Retail Food Program in 2011. Today, the retailer has donated 99 million pounds of food to food banks nationwide.
