Walmart has recruited some well-known figures for its first-ever Super Bowl ad, which puts the big-box retailer's grocery pickup service front and centre.
From Bill of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure arriving in a phone booth, to Men in Black's Frank the Pug pulling up in a Ford LTD Crown Victoria, each character in the 60-second television commercial arrives (in various modes of transportation) to pick up their grocery order.
"We’re excited to show tens of millions of viewers who tune into the Big Game how our pickup service can reinvent their shopping experience and add much-needed time back into their day. It’s truly out-of-this-world convenient," said Janey Whiteside, EVP and Walmart chief customer officer, in a blog post.
The ad is a followup to Walmart's “famous cars” ad that launched last year to highlight the “magic moment” of when a Walmart associate loads the customer’s trunk with groceries.
Walmart is teasing the Super Bowl spot across various media channels including radio stations, TV walls in Walmart stores and social media .
