Woman finds metal shavings in Maple Leaf hotdogs

An Iqaluit woman bit off more than she could chew during dinner.

According a report from CBC News, Iqaluit resident Sylvia Thompson found metal shavings in a package of Maple Leaf Top Dogs Original Singles. She discovered the shavings after already consuming one hot dog.

Thompson contacted Maple Leaf, and in return received a letter of apology along with a $40 coupon. The company will be launching a full investigation, and has said the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is involved.

Maple Leaf told CBC they have safety measures in place at all facilities to detect metal.
