BMO and the Air Miles Reward Program announced a new partnership beginning Aug. 1 that offers consumers with BMO Air Miles World Elite and BMO Air Miles Mastercard credit cards 2x multiplier benefits when shopping at any grocery retailer in Canada.

Cardholders will continue earning 3x multiplier at participating Air Miles partners across the country, including at Metro grocery stores in Ontario.

"BMO is committed to helping cardholders get more out of their spending and make real financial progress,” said Jennifer Douglas, head, North American retail and small business payments, BMO, in a press release.

It’s good timing for Air Miles. The announcement comes on the heels of Sobeys' parent Empire Company Ltd.  moving on from Air Miles Rewards to Scene+ benefits in June after taking part ownership in the latter. That after the LCBO (Ontarians' main source for wine and spirits) dropped Air Miles in 2021 in favour of Aeroplan benefits, which also began including online purchases this past May.

Shawn Stewart, president, Air Miles Reward Program said: Canadians can be confident “knowing that each grocery trip, wherever they choose to shop, will help further accelerate the path to their next reward. We're committed to providing the choice, flexibility and value that Canadian consumers demand from their loyalty program.”
