Calgary Co-op and developer-builder Truman are collaborating on a two-acre, mixed-use project in the city.
Located between two of Calgary’s main streets at the heart of the communities of Marda Loop, the proposed Marc & Mada Block is billed as an “innovative and vibrant” hub featuring housing, public spaces and local businesses, anchored by a Calgary Co-op grocery store.
The retail co-operative purchased the property in 2020 with the idea to create a “Calgary Co-op ‘next generation’ grocery store,” the development’s website says. The grocery store at Marc & Mada Block promises to offer “a fresh shopping experience curated for food enthusiasts.”
The site will feature an eight-storey and 19-storey mixed-use building, as well 5,390 square metres of commercial space and 441 dwelling units.
