Canada Bread Company has acquired Toronto's Stonemill Bakehouse for an undisclosed amount.
According to a release, Stonemill Bakehouse employs approximately 100 associates and operates one production facility in Scarborough and a store in St. Lawrence Market in Toronto.
News of the acquisition comes only weeks after Canada Bread Company announced it would shutter two of its Quebec-based facilities in 2017. Toronto-headquartered Canada Bread said it expected the closures to impact more than 120 employees.
Canada Bread Company, which was purchased by Grupo Bimbo in 2014, counts Dempster's, Villaggio, POM, Bon Matin and Ben's among its brands.
