Ferrero investing $445M in Ontario manufacturing facility
Ferrero Group is spending $445 million to expand its production facility in Brantford, Ont.
With $36 million in funding from the province, the upgraded facility—featuring Internet of Things and robotics—will support the production of new products.
Ferrero said the investment will allow for the launch of Ferrero Rocher chocolate squares in Ontario, and the production of Nutella Biscuits, previously only manufactured in Europe.
The investment will see the company’s workforce expand to more than 1,800 in the province.
Ferrero said it is committed to sourcing its key ingredients and packaging materials within Ontario.
“We are grateful for the ongoing support of the province and the City of Brantford, who recognize the invaluable contributions of the food industry,” said Eric Houdet, SVP, Canada industrial, Brantford Plant, Ferrero Canada, in a press release. “As the largest employer in Brantford, this investment and hundreds of new employees will bolster the local economy and help us bring amazing treats to more people around the world.”
