Food Basics has opened its newest location in LaSalle, Ont., marking the discount grocer’s 153rd store and its fifth in the Greater Windsor area.

The more than 32,000-sq.-ft. store is located at 2301 Sandwich West Parkway. It will offer a “tailored product selection to reflect the diversity of the [community],” states a press release.

Shoppers will find Irresistibles and Selection products, locally sourced goods, fresh meat and produce, as well as fresh BBQ chickens.

Additionally, customers can earn Moi Rewards and have the option to order groceries online with click-and-collect.

“We are excited to be able to bring Food Basics to the LaSalle community, offering more ways for residents to save on quality products,” said John Manax, vice-president, operations, Food Basics, in the release. “No matter where you live, people are always looking for ways to save. Residents who may be first-time shoppers at Food Basics will get to know us as a discount grocer that is a reliable source for fresh, always in-stock, healthy food at great prices.”

The LaSalle location is the Metro-owned chain’s first to open in 2026, with another eight scheduled to open later this year.

Food Basics will donate $5,000 to UHC–Hub of Opportunities, which is affiliated with Feed Ontario, as part of the opening.
