Metro Inc. has tapped former Walmart Canada executive John Bayliss to succeed Carmen Fortino as executive vice-president of national supply chain and procurement.

Bayliss will join the grocer May 29 upon Fortino’s retirement.

He will report to Marc Giroux, chief operating officer.

Bayliss currently serves as chief executive officer of Mastermind Toys.

He joined the specialty toy retailer last May after nearly a decade at Walmart Canada. There, he held a number of positions including senior vice-president, logistics and supply chain, and chief operations officer. His most recent title at the retailer was chief expansion officer, retail growth and development.

Metro said Bayliss “is a seasoned leader known for delivering measurable gains in productivity, customer experience and revenue while cultivating high-performing, values-driven teams.”
