Golden Pencil Awards now accepting nominations for 2019

Award is in recognition of a person’s lifetime contributions to the grocery industry

Do you know someone who should be recognized for their outstanding service or contribution to the grocery industry? Now’s your chance to nominate them for the industry’s most prestigious award.

The Golden Pencil Award recognizes individuals who have made significant and worthwhile contributions to improving the Canadian food industry as well as their communities.

Ideal candidates for the award will have been involved with the Canadian grocery industry a minimum of 10 years and achieved senior executive status.

Last year, Mary Dalimonte (retired, Sobeys) and Tom Gunter (retired, Fiera Foods Company) took home the Golden Pencil hardware.

Other recent winners include Michael McCain, president and chief executive officer of Maple Leaf Foods, Gus Longo of Longo Brothers, Eric La Flèche of Metro, Nestlé Canada CEO Shelley Martin and Darrell Jones, president of Save-On-Foods

The deadline to submit is May 8, so don’t forget to nominate by visiting the Golden Pencil site and clicking on the “nominees” tab.
