Halifax police investigate another incident of nail found in a potato
Halifax Regional Police are investigating another incident involving a metal object in a potato.
They say a woman called police on May 28 to report that she had found a nail inside a potato she had cooked.
Police say the woman bought the bag of River Valley potatoes at a Giant Tiger location three to four weeks ago.
It's the latest in a series of incidents across the Maritimes.
The RCMP says a resident contacted them on May 19 after finding a nail in a potato from a bag of Farmer’s Market spuds. The bag was purchased from the Atlantic Superstore in Antigonish in late April or early May.
A nail in another Farmer’s Market potato purchased at a No Frills grocery store in Barrington Passage was reported to RCMP on May 20.
Prince Edward Island RCMP also say a customer turned in a potato with a metal object in it on May 18.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency recently issued a recall for several brands.
