We’ve all heard the old adage before – our actions speak louder than our words. Kruger Products’ community involvement strategy is guided by our Mission, making everyday life more comfortable. More than just our duty, we believe it is our privilege to support and strengthen our communities. We lead with kindness to add value to our communities through longstanding philanthropic commitments that span healthcare, athletics and environmental sustainability.

We give back on a corporate level to several well-established partnerships, many of these spanning multiple decades. Kruger Products is a top five contributor to the breast cancer cause at the Canadian Cancer Society, led by our inspirational Cashmere Collection. We have supported the Scotties Tournament of Hearts (Canada’s premiere women’s curling event) for 40 consecutive years. We are a national sponsor for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s annual fundraiser, Gutsy Walk, through our Cashmere and Purex bathroom tissue brands. And, since 1990, our Away From Home division has supplied all of the household paper products to the 15 Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada. More information about our community support can be found here.

At the start of the global pandemic, we looked at how else we could support our communities. We launched a national #RollingItForward program in April 2020 to support our frontline healthcare workers by delivering tissue care packages to 32 Canadian hospitals and made a financial contribution to the Frontline Fund. We also donated tissue products to Food Banks Canada to share with those most in need. As an extension of the program, seven Canadian NHL players and Canadian Sports TV personalities posted messages on Twitter to inspire others to perform acts of neighbourly kindness.

True to our Canadian roots, we launched the Kruger Big Assist in September 2020 to ensure no child’s dream to play hockey was missed because of hardships many people faced due to the pandemic. The national program supports Canadian minor hockey league associations to cover registration costs for hockey families in need.

We are also very proud of each of our Kruger Products locations for the positive roles they play in their local communities. Each manufacturing site supports organizations and causes that resonate with employees and their surrounding communities. Some of our beneficiaries include food banks, environmental organizations, women and children support groups, among many others.

Separate from our corporate and site-specific initiatives, which run deep within our Kruger Products family, we also team up with our employees to support local causes that are important to them. Our employees are proud to act as positive stewards and volunteers to help make a difference in our communities. Our team members have invested their time and care in activities such as preparing and serving meals, tree planting and delivering products to local charities. Many of our facilities have a Community Involvement Committee which works with our employees to get involved in the causes they care most about and to experience the direct impact we make as a company within their communities.

Our employees’ passion and drive to be positive agents of change within our communities is what motivates us to keep doing what we’re doing. We see the impact it has on our communities, but also the impacts it has on our employees. Supporting others brings us closer as a team and gives us higher purpose.
