Bridor says it will spend $40 million to double the size of its Boucherville baking facility east of Montreal and increase its capacity by 80 per cent.

The company has more than 300 recipes for French-style crusty and artisanal breads and 150 types of pastry, produced at four North American plants.

It currently employs 500 people in Canada, out of 700 in North America, and expects the Boucherville expansion to add about 60 positions by the end of the expansion project.

The owner of Bridor is Louis Le Duff, CEO and founder of Le Duff Group, which includes the Brioche Doree chain in France.

The Boucherville expansion is part of a five-year global investment plan announced by Le Duff in June, which aims to spend 500 million euros on the Bridor business.
