“We’re excited to welcome customers to our new store and become part of the South Granville community,” said Dan Close, store owner, in a press release. “We know customers are looking for convenient ways to shop without compromising freshness, quality or value. Whether they’re picking up ingredients for dinner, grabbing a prepared meal on the go or looking for great savings on everyday essentials, we’re proud to offer a fresh new grocery experience for the neighbourhood.”
Close brings more than 23 years of experience with Loblaw. Since joining Real Canadian Superstore in 2003, he has held a variety of leadership positions across Alberta before relocating to Vancouver three years ago. Most recently, he helped launch the Loblaws City Market at The Post as assistant store manager and owner-in-training while completing Loblaw’s Franchise Development Program. South Granville marks his first franchise location.
As part of the opening, Loblaws City Market South Granville will donate $2,500 to the Urban Native Youth Association (UNYA), a local organization that empowers Indigenous youth and young adults through culturally grounded programs and services.
The store employs 75 people.
