Metro debuts Aliments du Québec organic labels in its stores

Metro is the first Quebec grocery chain to introduce a new label specific to Aliments du Québec organic products.

The new blue Aliments du Québec Bio and Aliments préparés au Québec Bio labels feature the word Bio in the middle of the logo and will make it easier for Metro, Metro Plus and Super C customers to identify local products that are certified organic.

The organic certification of products is carried out by the Conseil des appellations réservées et des termes valorisants (a key player in the recognition of agri-food designations in Quebec). In order for a product to receive organic certification by the organization, 95% of its ingredients must be of organic origin.

Along with organic products, the grocery chain has been focused on offering more local goods. In May, Metro's announced a local purchasing policy focused on the accessibility and promotion of local products.
