Who: Metro

What: The retailer recently added two Shared Kitchens to its network.

In collaboration with Food Banks of Quebec, Metro opened kitchens in Sainte-Adèle, Que. and the province’s Outaouais region.

The Outaouais region kitchen, located in Buckingham, will be operated by the Banque alimentaire de la Lièvre. The Sainte-Adèle facility—the second shared kitchen in Quebec’s Laurentians region—will be operated by Le Garde-Manger des Pays-d’en-Haut.

Metro’s Shared Kitchens serve community kitchens dedicated to collaborative and educational activities, as well as commercial kitchens that facilitate the preparation and distribution of prepared meals for food pantries, lunches and breakfasts for schools and affordable meals.

“We made sure to develop a project that genuinely responds to the needs of the community. We are very proud of this tangible initiative, which allows us to create a lasting legacy in the communities where we operate and brings our purpose to life: Nourishing the health and well being of our communities,” said Marie Claude Bacon, vice-president, public affairs and communications at Metro, in a release.
