A former Atlantic Superstore in Edmundston, N.B. has been converted to a Maxi & Cie, the discount banner’s large footprint supermarket format.

Located at 577 Victoria Street, the 80,000 square-foot store features local offerings including Acadian favourites and Quebec products, as well as organic and natural goods, Joe Fresh clothing, home accessories and PC Express.

The grand opening was attended by Mayor of Edmundston Eric Marquis, Maxi district manager Eric Provencher and Sébastien Morin, store manager.

“At a time when consumers are looking more than ever to get the most value for their money, our priority is to offer fresh, quality products at low prices. This new Maxi store in Edmundston reflects our commitment to making our offering accessible to even more families,” said Patrick Blanchette, senior vice-president of Loblaw Companies-owned Maxi, in a press release.

To mark the completion of the conversion, the store presented a $2,500 donation to Atelier R.A.D.O., a local organization that collects unsold food products from the store, among other initiatives.

The store employs 120 people.
