Metro announced today former CEO Pierre Lessard (right) is ending his 24-year career with the retailer. Lessard will be retiring as board chairman after the next annual general meeting of Shareholders on January 27. Lessard served Metro first as President and CEO from 1990 to 2008, and then as Chair of the Board. Réal Raymond (left) , former president and CEO of National Bank of Canada, will take on the position. Raymond joined the board of Metro in 2008 and as been lead director of the corporation and chair of the human resources committee since 2010. Metro also announced Paul Gobeil, vice-chair of the board, will retire from the board after the next meeting, and John Tory has resigned following his election as Mayor of Toronto.
