In Quebec, the Big Three join in local food campaign
In what is being hailed as a first in Quebec grocery circles, the province’s three biggest chains–Metro, Loblaw and Sobeys–are partnering with government in its annual Aliments du Québec (Quebec Food) campaign.
Launched in Montreal this month under this year’s slogan Toujours le bon choix! (Always the good choice!), the campaign will notably feature banners and other publicity in every Quebec store of the three grocery chains, which represent 70 per cent of all locally-produced food sales in la belle province.
Since being launched three years ago, the number of Aliments du Québec-stamped foods has tripled from 4,000 to more than 12,000.
Those products–from fresh to processed foods–represent roughly 40 per cent of the approximately 30,000 items sold in most Quebec grocery stores.
