A new Thrifty Foods is set to open in Metro Vancouver.

The Empire Company discount banner will anchor developer Grosvenor’s Brentwood Block complex. Located in Burnaby, the pedestrian-focused development is currently under construction.

Slated to open in 2029, Grosvenor said the new Thrifty Foods will span 36,000 square feet.

The developer said the announcement marks “the continuation of a decades-long partnership between Thrifty Foods and Grosvenor.”

“Welcoming Thrifty Foods to Brentwood Block is another important step in realizing our vision for a complete, walkable community that serves our residents and neighbours. Grocery stores are foundational to thriving and vibrant neighbourhoods, and Thrifty Foods will anchor the community, enhance livability and activate the site from day one,” Marc Josephson, senior vice-president of development at Grosvenor, said in a press release.

Brentwood Block spans eight acres along Lougheed Highway.
