Former Sobeys VP Gilles Corriveau is the new chief executive at St-Hubert Retail, the food processing arm of the Quebec-based chicken rotisserie chain.
Corriveau started at St-Hubert on Tuesday. He’ll oversee the company’s retail division, which manufactures and distributes packaged foods through supermarkets.
St-Hubert’s grocery lineup includes some 130 sauces, soups, frozen chicken, ribs and meat pies under the St-Hubert brand. It also handles distribution for several other foodmakers.
Corriveau spent 10 years with Sobeys, leaving the company in 2011 as vice-president of programs and systems for store operations at its Quebec division.
Prior to joining St-Hubert, he was VP of retail operations and sales network for Mito Sushi. The company has nearly 200 sushi counters in Sobeys’ IGA stores in Quebec. It also distributes its products to other grocers.
Pierre Rivard, president of St-Hubert Group, praised Corriveau’s leadership skills, adding that he “will brilliantly lead the division to new heights.”
Corriveau’s resume includes more than 25 years experience in food processing and distribution. He holds a PhD in business administration from HEC Montreal, the business school where he has also taught marketing.
St-Hubert was founded in 1951, named after the street where its first restaurant was located. Today there are more than 120 St-Hubert rotisseries in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick.
Canned versions of the company’s original chicken barbecue sauce first went on sale in Quebec grocery stores in 1965.
