Just over a week after Overwaitea Food Group announced it was bringing online grocery to Vancouver Island, the company announced Vancouver shoppers will also be able to order groceries online from Save-On-Foods’ locations.
Beginning Saturday, Vancouver shoppers can order groceries online to be delivered the following day, or picked up the same day.
“Life today is busy, and our online shopping option offers customers the opportunity to do a full shop from the comfort of their own home,” said Darrell Jones, president of Save-On-Foods.
Overwaitea first launched its online shopping program last September in Greater Vancouver. At the time, a representative told Canadian Grocer the company was testing the demand for online grocery before introducing it to downtown Vancouver.
To mark the launch of the home delivery service in Vancouver, Jones made a special delivery to Ronald McDonald House B.C on Thursday.
Save-On-Foods has committed to filling the shelves of the Ronald McDonald House pantry so families who need specialized care have one less thing to worry about.
“We’re all about community – after all, we live here too,” says Jones. “We see our customers as an extension of the Save-On-Foods family and helping BC families, who really need the support is something that we are passionate about.”
The delivery to Ronald McDonald House is part of Save-On-Foods’ commitment to “going the extra mile” – a mantra the retailer is using in recent marketing initiatives.
A section of the retailer’s website displays pledges from Save-On-Foods employees and their commitment to customers. One pledge reads, “I pledge to greet every customer that walks by my till.” Another pledges to provide her team with the best knowledge of produce so they can give the best customer service possible.
