T&T exec featured in Undercover Boss Canada show

9/24/2012

T&T Supermarket’s executive director of strategy and operations, Tina Lee (right, in photo above), will be featured in an upcoming episode of Undercover Boss Canada, a popular show in which company executives transform themselves into frontline workers.

Lee will be disguised as she goes undercover in various departments of the largest Asian supermarket chain in Canada. She'll work in bakery and live seafood, all while trying to find ways to attract more customers in a competitive marketplace.

In each episode on the W Network series, executives work alongside their employees, learning the effects their decisions have on others, the perception of the company, and who the unsung heroes of their workforce are, says the show’s website.

Along with Lee, other bosses featured this season include the top executives of Home Hardware, East Side Mario’s and Cooke Aquaculture.

With the show’s popularity in both its U.S. and Canadian incarnations, it is becoming more challenging to keep the CEOs undercover, said series executive producer Thomas Howe in an article in the Toronto Star.

Another challenge said Howe is finding enough female CEOs.

This season features five female executives: Margaret Kordas, president of PJ’s Pets and Pets Unlimited; Judith Shamian, CEO of the Victorian Order of Nurses; Kriston Dean, a director at Purdy’s Chocolates; vice-president Kirsten Flynn at Premiere Van Lines; and Lee.

The episode featuring Lee airs Nov. 1 at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard and Pacific times.

T&T is owned by Loblaw Companies.
