Walmart Canada transforms Squamish, B.C. store into Supercentre
Walmart Canada’s store in Squamish, B.C. has become a Supercentre.
The location held its grand opening last month.
Located at 39210 Discovery Way, the 86,000 square-foot Supercentre now features fresh groceries including produce, meat, seafood, bakery and dairy, in addition to Walmart’s general merchandise assortment.
The store also offers pickup and delivery and a full-service pharmacy.
Walmart has operated the store in Squamish for 20 years.
"This is an exciting milestone for our associates and customers, " said Donna Ricci, store manager, in a press release. "For years, our customers have been asking for a Supercentre, and we're thrilled to officially welcome them into a store that offers even more of what they need, all under one roof. We're proud to continue serving the Squamish community and to help families save money and live better."
To mark the grand opening event, the store presented community grants to Squamish Sikh Society, Squamish Helping Hands Society and Squamish General Hospital Auxiliary Society.
The store also features a unique two-panel mural by Aboriginal artists Joshua (Schet7xwimtin) Watts Natraoro a Nuuchahnulth, and Adopted Sḵwx̱wú7mesh First Nations professional artist, and Cultural Carrier and his father Ray (Sesiyam) Natraoro.
Walmart Canada operates 47 stores and a distribution centre in British Columbia.
