Walmart has brought its AI-powered shopping assistant “Sparky” to Canada.

Available now on Walmart.ca and the company’s app, the tool launched in the U.S. in June 2025

Walmart said Sparky can help its customers move from “an idea to a shopping list in moments,” whether they’re planning a meal, searching for a gift or getting ready to start a new fitness routine, for example.

“Shopping doesn’t always begin with a product in mind—it often begins with a question, an occasion or a budget,” said Andrew Go, vice-president, e-commerce and marketing, Walmart Canada, in a press release. “Sparky helps Canadians turn those everyday needs into a thoughtful shopping list, whether they’re planning a holiday meal, comparing products or searching for the right gift. It’s the latest way we’re making shopping with Walmart easier and more convenient.”

Planned features include shopping using images, recipe inspiration and help with everyday essentials, Walmart said.
