Aurora Importing donates $60K to help Second Harvest repair trucks following theft

Aurora Importing & Distributing Ltd. has donated $60,000 to Second Harvest following a break-in at the food rescue organization's Toronto truck yard that left seven trucks out of commission.

Over this past Thanksgiving weekend, Second Harvest said thieves stole catalytic converters from seven of its food rescue trucks. 

“Every one of these trucks is a lifeline. When they stop, food stops,” said Lori Nikkel, CEO of Second Harvest, in a LinkedIn post. “[Joe Moscato, president of Aurora Importing] and the team at Aurora didn’t wait to be asked. Within days of the theft they called and said, ‘What do you need to get moving again?’ That’s what this city looks like at its best, and it means thousands of meals get where they’re supposed to go this month instead of being lost.”
